Abstract:

The article considers the policy of the new Bolshevik government established in Russia after October 1917 in the religious question, as well as the attitude of the Bolsheviks to the Russian Orthodox Church. The authors analyze the measures taken by the new state power in relation to religion and Church institutions associated with it. In addition, the question of the attitude of the broad masses to the Bolshevik policy in the field of religion and to the Russian Orthodox Church in this historical period is considered.
